FEELING THE PULSE

Yolanda Manny is not your typical girl. As a car enthusiast, she can not only compete against the boys, but due to her determination to get the most out of her car, she can literally leave them well behind. Having owned a Hyundai Excel, 2 x Mitsubishi Mirages and an N13 Nissan Pulsar, Yolanda had finally settled on a 2000 N15 Nissan Pulsar. The modifications started quite early and Yolanda had the car fitted with rims, lowered springs, breathing modifications under the bonnet and the necessary loud exhaust. In this current state, Yolanda entered the car with the Pulsar Group of Australia (PGA) (www.pulsar.org.au) at Autosalon.

As a regular within the PGA community, Yolanda’s appreciation for the potential of her car became quite apparent and she started attending cruises, club meets, attending more shows, and even become involved with drag and track racing. Yolanda managed a best time of 15.2 @87.38 mph at Western Sydney International Dragway (WSID) at Eastern Creek with the standard SR20DE motor with the usual breathing mods. (INSERT PICS 16-21)

As the modification bug bit harder, the list of modifications continued. The first step was to transplant the SR20DET motor from a Nissan GTiR. All of the work was with the help of GC Corp, Cobra Exhausts & Hypertune.
This engine was treated with:
Metal head gasket,
Custom 3 inch Exhaust,
GTR front mount intercooler,
Walbro 255L/hr fuel pump,
GReddy Type RS blow off valve,
GReddy Profec-B Spec 2 boost controller, and

The drivetrain was strengthened with:
PAR synchromesh straight cut gears,
GMC PAR spec brass button clutch,
B&M short shifter with B&M knob,
PAR lightened flywheel, and
Nismo 1.5way LSD.

The front brakes were upgraded with DBA 4901s slotted rotors with Green Stuff pads. The suspension was changed to Tein HA coilovers, Cusco front strut brace, Cusco 3 point rear strut brace and a Whiteline adjustable swaybar. All of these modifications have led Yolanda to be able to seriously compete on the dyno, drag races and the track circuit. Her current maximum power figure is 176.2kw at the front wheels.

The Pulsar was fitted with Autotechnica reclinable racing seats with 2inch 4-point harnesses. Yolanda changes her wheels and tyres depending on what she requires at the time. She uses 17x7.5inch Buddy Club P1 Racing Rims for daily driving and 16x7inch bronze RAYS Engineering/Volk Racing TE37s in Yokohama Advan AO32R semi slicks for track and drag events.

For her efforts, Yolanda has managed a best time at WSID of 13.093@105mph, 1.18.14 minutes at Wakefield Park Raceway and 56.48 seconds at Oran Park Raceway. She has also scored herself a feature in Zoom Magazine.

The car was also fitted with a VZR front lip, VZR S2 crystal fog lights and an import front grill. When asked what her next car would be, Yolanda assures us that it will be a Mitsubishi Evolution 9. It looks like she is evolving into the next step already.
