OUT OF THIS WORLDHaving already achieved show car status, Peter’s 1998 Nissan Pulsar has won many trophies within its time travelling around Australia. Winning awards in the paint, audio, illumination, dyno and editors choice fields is extremely impressive for a car that started as his wife’s daily commuter. But for now, Peter is undergoing a full rebuild on the car which he says will shock the show scene with out of this world ideas. Judging by the impact that this car made when it was first released, we can only bet on an excellent return to the show circuit.
The standard GA16DE 1.6 litre engine was removed and a standard SR20DET engine was put in its place, which Peter has upgraded with a GTiR exhaust manifold and it holds a Garrett GT2560R turbo. This charged air then flows through a Hybrid intercooler and the exhaust gases pass back out of the 2.5 inch exhaust. The car currently makes 207.3kw at the wheels and uses a Microtech LT8 computer to keep the engine running smoothly. This work was done by the team at TM Motorsports who should be happy with the final outcome. The standard rear drum brakes have been swapped in favour of a GTiR rear beam with disc and calliper braking power. Tein Super street suspension keeps the 17 inch Momo Sports friendly with the bodywork. The body work consists of a Team Jestspeed front and rear bar, along with side skirts, rear spoiler, 2 slat grill and vents moulded into the standard bonnet. The car was then painted with a fresh coat of white and the rear of the car has been airbrushed with an alien theme. The interior has seen an extensive upgrade with all white and blue leather covering every square inch of the cabin. Computer boards are lit up with neon lights throughout the interior to add to the alien theme and the rear seat was converted into a two seater for a sportier look. Eastside Kustoms was commissioned to complete the build and their efforts have resulted in Peter winning the trophies for best interior more times than he cares to count. Impact Audio was in charge of fitting the extensive audio gear which consists of an Alpine headunit, Boston 6 inch and 4 inch splits and 6 inch coaxial. Twin Boston 12 inch subwoofers take care of the bass as an Alpine 2 channel and an Alpine 4 channel amplifier power the lot. Peter would like to thank Todd and Steve from Eastside Kustoms, Adam and Bluey from TM Autosport, Tony from Raceart for the airbrushing and stickers, Team Jetspeed, George from Koulis Smash Repairs and everybody else who has helped throughout the build.
