PURPLE PULSARHaving owned a turbo charged 1984 model Nissan ET Turbo and also a Nissan EXA Turbo, Mark, the owner of this Purple Pulsar, could not go past a 1994 GTiR when decoding to upgrade. He also owned a 1984 Mitsubishi Cordia Turbo along the way but we guess that mark believes that Nissan just knows how to build a decent turbo charged car from the factory.Mark has upgraded the standard engine with some good bits and pieces and as the standard power is nothing to laugh at in such a compact car, his gains seriously make all of the difference when putting his foot to the floor. Forged pistons start the list of goodie-bits, which is followed by Tomei 264 duration camshafts and Tomei adjustable cam gears. A Tomei rocker stopper was used to prolong the life of the motor when high revving and the ported and polished head allows the engine to obtain some extra power from taking away most of the restrictions. A Garrett GT2871 turbo sits proudly on top of the standard manifold and the standard top mount intercooler now sits at the front of the engine to get more cool air. An EMS Stinger computer was fitted and tuned to produce 204.9 horsepower at all four wheels through an Exedy heavy duty brass button clutch. A previous owner sprayed the car in hot pink with blue violet pearl which allows the car to be seen from a distance and not only heard. Sparco racing bucket seats now fill the front two positions within the cabin and 17 inch Speedy wheels fill the guards. JIC coilovers front and rear allow mark to adjust the settings of his suspension as he sees fit to suit the street, drag or circuit. No customised car would be complete without an upgraded stereo and mark has done his part in making musical disturbances by adding a Pioneer headunit along with Pioneer splits up the front and Pioneer 6 x9 inch speakers in the rear. A Clarion 15inch subwoofer guarantees that the bass lines hit hard and the entire system is powered by twin Clarion V-net 4 channel amplifiers. Mark would like to thank the team at Insight Motors for all of the tuning and engine work and also to the GTiRoz.com forums for all of their endless help and supply of information. |
