DR01DY – THE DRO12D RE-BIRTH

Uplon close inspection, the readers will be able to notice that the pictures in this article are infact of two different cars. After selling her last award winning 2000 model Mitsubishi Lancer out of New South Wales because it could not pass strict EPA emissions, the owner Carly was driving around in a MY99 Subaru WRX for just over 9 months. Carly wanted to recreate what she was now missing and for this reason, she is rebuilding her current car to her past car’s specifications. Future plans for the current car will be to re-trim the interior to the same colour scheme of silver vinyl and pink inserts.

With Carly’s last car winning Mitsubishi Champion at the 2007 Newcastle Autosalon competition and Best Ladies Car at Moorebank Show & Shine, she was also featured on Ignition DVD issue 13 and also within the covers of HOT4s.

Currently re-creating her past car, Carly has already applied the House of Kolor Hot Pink hue and added a Fibremotive Droid 2 bodykit and clear Altezza style tail lights. This work was done at 2SUS Custom Resprays. The team at Shellharbour Upholstery have been given the job of replicating the last interior re-trim and by the time that this issue hits the website, the interior should be well under way.

Re-creating the last car has some advantages, as the last car only wore 17 inch Vault Krystal wheels, but this current edition has been upgraded to 18 inch wheels of the same kind. 2 inch lowered springs were supplied by Pedders suspension and bring the car down nicely over the “dinner plates of chrome”.

The guys at Oaks Flats Electronics and Frankie Auto Electronics were given the job of installing a complete Sony Xplod stereo which comprises of a headunit, upgraded speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers which power the whole system.

Carly would like to thank Basa at 2SUS Custom Resprays and her best friend Mikayla (BADGRL) for always helping her out and running her back and forth to the workshops throughout Sydney.
