DROID 2 LANCER

Being 16 and interested in cars is usually kind of hard as you are restricted to driving your parent’s car as you learn the basics of road rules and shifting gears without bunny hopping or burning the clutch. But it must be fun for Aaron to learn and drive is his customised 1997 Lancer. Having always liked the shape of the car and being able to find many parts were two of the reasons why Aaron parted ways with many thousands of dollars to purchase his car. With such an extensive list of current modifications so far and an even larger list of future modifications including a turbo conversion and more interior work, we are assured that Aaron is on the right path to building a show car worthy of the awards that he plans to achieve.

Currently the car revs harder thanks to re-ground camshafts and breathes better with a K&N air filter, Tiger headers and a custom 2 inch exhaust which was fitted by himself and the team at South Tweed Mufflers and Tweed City Exhausts. Shifting gears is also made faster by the addition of the short shift kit.
The famous Fibremotive Droid 2 bodykit was then fitted along with D-Style eyelids, bonnet scoop and M3 style mirrors and coated in the factory white paint. Aftermarket tail lights and clear blinkers then finish off the bodywork side of the build. The exterior is then finished with 18inch Diablo Racing wheels and the car handles better thanks to lowered King Springs and Monroe shock absorbers. Whiteline then supplied the camber pins, front strut brace and rear swaybar.

The interior received a makeover in the form a full re-trim in tan vinyl and crocodile skin inserts. Whatever was not trimmed was then painted to match the tan vinyl and the steering wheel and gear knob were upgraded along the way. Brett’s Auto trimming was in charge of this work and also fabricated the custom parcel tray in the rear which is trimmed in black vinyl. Further adding to the cars overall dynamics is a Kenwood 7 inch DVD/CD player and JBL split speakers in the front. Two 12 inch Rockford Fosgate subwoofers fill the boot with bass and the complete stereo is powered by a Kenwood and Sony amplifier.

We are sure that with such an early start into the modifying world that Australia has not yet seen the end of Aaron and his modified Lancer. We hope to see any future progressions as he begins his track down the modifying path and begins to take home awards at car shows.
