CIVIC TYPE-Racing

Building a street racer is a complicated thing. But with the right direction, it can become quite a simple task. The owner of this car is only 19 years old and certainly has his head screwed on correctly as the package that he has put together flows very nicely. Brodie bought this 1994 Honda Civic a few years back purely because it is his favourite car. He is happy with the current level of modifications but does plan for intake trumpets and a lightened flywheel in the near future.

The main area of concern when building a street racer is the engine. The standard engine was ripped out and a B16A VTEC was put in as its replacement. An Exedy clutch was put in to get more power to the ground when dropping the clutch. Dahtone racing is responsible for this work and Brodie describes the whole process as totally painless.

2SUS Custom Resprays was given the job to refresh the colour with Mazda pearl white. This stunning and clean finish was then contrasted with red Sparco seats for the front two passengers. The rest of the cabin has been upgraded with red suede on the roof, pillars and door trims. Matching red velour is used to cover the rear seats. Brodie would like to thank Dr Stitch Customs for his painstaking effort to ensure that the finish was flawless.

AME Modelart wheels measuring 18 inches in diameter are wrapped in 215/35 tyres and they are finished off with red and white highlights courtesy of Redwalls. The 2.5 inch drop in the front allows the guards to nicely cover the front wheels, but it is the 4 inch drop in the rear that grabs the most attention.

There is no large sound system in the car as it would defeat the purpose of building a quick naturally-aspirated car. This means that only the headunit and speakers were upgraded using Pioneer gear. To finish off the electrical work, the headlights have been replaced with aftermarket items utilising a black finish and angel eyes.

Brodie would like to thank his mother, his girlfriend Jen, Bassa from 2SUS, Anthony from Dahtone Racing, Martin from Groundzero Window Tinting and Arthur from Redwalls. Further thanks must go out to Yonas from JDMyard, Sam at Tempe Tyres, Diversity Auto Club, Brad at Dr Stitch Customs and the rest of the boys such as NFNSUS, SHIIVO, SLO15T, PRO20V, KCD12C, XAQOOT, Ryan Burak and all of the others along the way.
