Daihatsu Charade WA84IT Print E-mail

WORDS CAN NOT DESCRIBE

What can be said when trying to describe the build process of this car. What started as a 1995 Daihatsu Charade, James Chlazia built this car so that it could only ever be fully appreciated by seeing it up close. But for those readers out there from around Australia and also the world, this may be the closest that you can get to witnessing the car at this point in time.

We shall get to the detailed interior and stereo combination soon, but firstly we should start by adding that this build was not constructed overnight and took many long hours, days, nights and even weekends. Much planning goes into something like this as the finished result can not look like it was merely slapped together in the last minute. This Charade began as a teal coloured car riding on small wheels, but it was all taken back and the paint has been reapplied with the new VE Holden Commodore green. The new hue was finished off with shaved door handles, roof drainage channels, antenna, boot lid and side moulds. This work was all completed by Claude Nicoletti.

Chrome 18 inch Rodney Jane Racing Linear wheels fill the guards and K-Sport coilovers bring the car closer to the road surface and get the car to an acceptable driving height for cruising.

Future plans for the car include a detailed engine bay and that is about it. The reason that not much more is is the pipeline, is purely for one reason. The car was built as a cruiser and that is it. So there will be no need to increase the power of the car when you prefer to drive at the slowest possible limit.

As you can see from all of the photos, the crowd-drawing aspect of this car is definitely the stereo installation and the totally transformed interior which is covered from floor to ceiling in peach leather. a fibreglass dash houses the gauge cluster in the centre now with screens either side. Both door trims house two pairs of 6 inch Infinity speakers and one TV screen. A custom centre console houses three pairs of 5 x 7 inch Morel speakers. All interior door handles have been removed and rear queater panels have been re-worked with a pair of 6 inch Infinity speakers and a TV screen.

False leather floors house amplifiers and all of the A,B and C pillars have downlights. The boot holds the obligatory subwoofers which in this case are 15 inch in diameter. Even the glove box for this car is motorised and it holds a Playstation 2. the passengers can play the games on any of the 7 screens located throughout the interior.

All of this work was performed by Doran Pro Audio & Custom Interiors.

James has many people to thank for all of their time and skills throughout the build. In particular, james would like to shout out to Tony, Richie and Raymond from Doran. Claude for the paintand metal fabrication. James's girlfriend Aimee, Arthur from Custom Red & White Wall Tyre Services. James parents also deserve a special thanks and finally to all of the boys such as YUPRVN, SIRBMW, OHSEXI, BASSIC, BMYSXY, FOOZE, 2GUUP, DRAMAZ, OVRDRV and to anyone else who he may have forgotten about.
